Substance abuse is a matter that has to be taken very seriously. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, and getting help is the next. Substance abuse programs have been around for a very long time and have helped many people along the way.
Substance abuse programs are meant to focus on changing the persons habits at a critical time in their life; this would be there transition into adolescence.
A substance abuse intervention program helps those understand that they are abusing drugs, and they need to accept treatment. An intervention program can help with breaking down the denial the patient has. It is important for the person who is accepting the help of a substance abuse program to have their family and friends behind them helping them and supporting them through every step.

DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This program is here to give kids the education they need about drugs and about being able to avoid them when they are in a situation. It also helps them avoid gangs, and violence. DARE is leaded by a police officer that goes to different class rooms to talk to the kids and the teachers. This program is for kids from kindergarten to high school. DARE has shown amazing results and is helping kids all around the world to resist, and to hopefully prevent them from becoming a substance abuse user.
