How Much do Rehabilitation Centres Charge?
Most rehabilitation centres are costly and payment out of pocket is required. On average, charges are based on the level of care, the method of treatment, the number of specialists involved, length of stay, and meal plans. This could range anywhere from a couple thousand dollars a month to $8000-$10,000 for private care. There are subsidized programs however, available through Christian churches. For example, New Life Girls Home in Consecon, ON is partially funded by a local church and the charge for the patient is dramatically reduced. Another example of a subsidized rehabilitation centre is the Portage Elora in Waterloo, ON which is partially funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Subsidized programs tend to have long waiting lists for beds due to the overload of applications.
Are Any Programs Free of Charge?
Typically, most aftercare programs are free of charge. This includes 12- step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous, medication therapy, and different classes (teaching life skills, coping strategies, etc.) Counselling one-on-one and couples counselling may not free and fees are determined by the counsellor. To see a therapist for free, the therapist must hold an M.D. degree so that the charge is covered by OHIP. On average, non-M.D. professionals charge anywhere between $80 and $120 per hour. Depending on your insurance, some or all of the charges may qualify for coverage.
